Should I get Lip Filler?

May 4, 2016

Naturally, with time, the lip loses volume and hydration, replacing this with Hyaluronic Acid can help maintain more youthful looking lips.

THE DESIRE
Increase the lip size/projection.
Enhance the lip shape.
Define the lip border and cupids bow.
Adjust the proportions.
Hydrate the lip.

A SOLUTION
Dermal Filler can be injected into the lips to plump, shape and enhance symmetry,  it also helps to hydrate the lips and improve wrinkles around the mouth.

THE TREATMENT
In your consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals.
As with all procedures, there are risks, these will be discussed.
Numbing cream is applied to the treatment area, even though the lips are a very sensitive area there is only mild discomfort.
A small needle is used to inject the Dermal Filler into the treatment area.
Treatment time is usually 5-10 minutes.

OUTCOME
Immediately following treatment you can resume most normal daily activities.
The effects of the treatment are immediately visible.
There will be swelling which can be disproportionate and asymmetrical.
Swelling can take 48hours to settle, a small amount of swelling can continue 2-4 weeks after.
Bruising is common and can take 5-10 days to settle.

Over 2-4 weeks post-treatment the gel integrates with the tissue, over time it is metabolised and excreted by the body.

Results can last anywhere between 3-18 months depending on product, placement, and person.

NOTE: Your lips are the foundation that you can build on, I rarely inject more than 1ml in the lips in a visit, I usually plan for 1ml on a monthly basis, until the desired size is reached. With increasing number of treatments, the Dermal Filler lasts longer and can be maintained yearly.

NB: Over injecting the lips can lead to complications!
